- E.M. Bounds, The Complete Works of Bounds on Prayer, 259.
I don't often link to them Pyromaniacs... they've got enough readers without pinching my 7. But this was a good little(?) post by Dan on who you should date/court/relate to.
Thinking about dating a non-believer in Jesus... and you ARE a believer in Christ? Think again!
We began our annual Week of Prayer in January, like Spurgeon, to start the New Year with our eyes set on Christ. But these times were so rich and such a blessing to us that after a couple of years we added a second week in September – the unofficial start of “everything.”
I will be preaching Sunday night on the prayer life of Jesus. We are taking the model prayer He gave the Twelve as the foundation for this Week of Prayer. But the impetus to that model prayer was His model prayer life – Lord, teach us to pray… with the emphasis on the “us.”
So, pray for us next week – the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

A former student of mine and a fine young graduate of Toronto Baptist Seminary, Ryan Case has settled in at Grace Community Reformed Baptist Church of Lethbridge. Ryan is a fine preacher, a devoted husband and soon to be new father and I am full of thanks to God for what He is doing in my brother's life.
As a church planter, I know that word of mouth can be a huge help in establishing the work. Be sure to swing over to their new website and email a link to everybody you know in Alberta! If Lethbridge is too far away, then send them over to Clint! And if Clint is too far away (it is a hefty province!) then have them look here for a great list of great churches.
Here is what one of his commentor's thinks about Joe:
"There is more intelligence in the ravings of the dumbest Pythagorean att he [sic] tail end of a binge drinking session than can be found in all the collected works of christian cultist philosophers far and wide."

The big conference is almost here! I am not able to attend, but wanted you to know about it.
Christianity - Islam: Two Faiths! Two Worldviews! - One God?
Date: September 7-8, 2007
Location: Morningstar Christian Fellowship (Formerly Churchill Heights Baptist Church)
7601 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario
As I stated last year in Toronto, this conference is intended to address an article written by Tim Perry in Faith Today magazine, August 2006. The basic point of the article was that Muslims and by extension, anyone who worshiped his or her particular deity in reverence and sincerity, was in fact seeking after and paying respect to the God of the Bible. While noting that there are differences between Allah and the Trinity, these differences were not of such a nature that would preclude a sincere Muslim from embracing eternal life. We emphatically disagree!
There are profound differences between Christianity and every other religious movement past or present. Jesus’ message was unmistakably clear when he states, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” It has been the task of the Church in every generation to carry the message of this life changing Gospel to every nation and tribe often times at a horrific cost to the messenger.
This conference is dedicated to help the Church understand the worldview that shapes Islam. Michael Haykin will introduce the conference by exploring Islam’s historical roots and how it has impacted Western civilization. Thabity Anyabwile will dedicate three sessions to explain how Islam is perceived at the popular level and introduce some general principles of how to present the Gospel to Muslims. James White will address some of the major doctrinal differences that distinguish Christianity from Islam.
It is our hope and prayer to equip Christians with some basic tools to share their faith. The divide between Christianity and Islam is not over mere facets of culture or ethics. There are eternal consequences for rejecting Jesus Christ and our earnest desire is that all who come under Christ’s ministry would embrace the Risen King as Lord and Saviour.
Please pray for us in the days ahead and for all those who attend that the Holy Spirit of God would use this weekend for the Father’s glory and exalt the Risen Jesus. Please feel free to contact the office for additional brochures for your congregation. We would also appreciate any announcements you could make in your congregation’s Sunday bulletins.
Soli Deo Gloria

Our good friends at Trinity Baptist Church have recently launched a new look website. Lots of great stuff including links to one of my favorite dead preachers and one of my favorite living preachers (Bill Payne and Carl Muller, respectively).

Me and lots of others went down to Lake Ontario to enjoy the Canadian National Air Show today. The highlight was the amazing F22 Raptor - the newest fighter jet out of America. In fact, this is the first time the Raptor has flown outside of the USA. This video (not shot by me) captures some of the stunning maneuverability of the plane.
She pledged to return frequently to preach."
This is so pathetic that even I don't know what to day about it!
